Cong to go with NCP for 15 municipal councils

Maharashtra Congress has entered into an alliance with the NCP for 15 municipal councils in the state, while it has decided to contest polls for 144 municipal councils on its own.

Out of the 195 municipal councils going to polls on December 8, election to seven have been rescheduled later

next month, while elections to two have been cancelled as they have been upgraded as muncipal corporations.

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Manikrao Thakre said, Congress and NCP will have alliance in five municipal councils in Ratnagiri district, two in Nashik, Yawal in Jalgaon, Junnar in Pune, Vaijapur in Aurangabad, Jalna, Vasmat and Kalamnuri in HIngoli, Parli-Vaijnath in Beed district and Gondia.

Whereas in Bhusawal and Chalisgaon (Jalgaon), Karanja (Washim), Malkapur and Nandura (Buldhana), Digras (Yavatmal), the party will have alliance with local outfits.


"In 30 municipal councils, Congress is supporting local outfits. However, there will be no alliance with Shiv Sena, BJP or MNS," he said.
